About
Michael A. Paradiso is the Sidney A. Fox and Dorothea Doctors Fox Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and Professor of Neuroscience at Brown University. He serves as Director of Brown's Center for Vision Research and has been a faculty member since 1990. His work bridges experimental and theoretical approaches to visual neuroscience.
Research Areas:
- Neurophysiology of visual cortex
- Perceptual neuroscience
- Visual processing mechanisms
- Cortical dynamics during natural vision
- Eye movement effects on perception
- Brightness perception and filling-in
- Cortical plasticity
Recent Article Trends focus on visual cortex activity patterns during natural vision, eye movement effects on perception, contrast sensitivity mechanisms, and neural coding in primary visual cortex.
Scientific Awards:
- Miller Research Fellowship (1984-1986)
- Rachel C. Atkinson Fellowship for Eye Research (1987-1989)
- Elizabeth H. LeDuc Award for Teaching Excellence (2006-2008)
