Michael A. Davies, M.D., Ph.D., serves as Chair of the Department of Melanoma Medical Oncology and holds the Anne and John Mendelsohn Chair in Cancer Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He maintains dual professor appointments in Translational Molecular Pathology and Genomic Medicine, and co-leads the Melanoma Moon Shot Program while directing research activities for the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program.
His research centers on melanoma therapeutics, integrating genomic medicine and translational molecular pathology to develop novel treatment strategies. As Melanoma Moon Shot Program Co-Leader, he drives interdisciplinary initiatives that accelerate clinical translation of basic science discoveries, with particular focus on overcoming treatment resistance and advancing precision oncology approaches for melanoma patients.
Dr. Davies plays a pivotal role in training the next generation of oncologists through his leadership in the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program. He oversees research mentorship and curriculum development, ensuring fellows gain expertise in both clinical management and translational research methodologies relevant to melanoma and broader oncology disciplines.
