Micaela Chavez (she/her/hers) is a Graduate Student and Predoctoral Instructor at the Department of English, University of Washington, within the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of California, Riverside (2019) and an M.A. in English from the University of Washington (2022). Her research focuses on 19th-century British feminism, feminist theory, media studies, novel/prose fiction, sexuality, and trauma. She received the Richard J. Dunn First-Year Teaching Award (Honorable Mention) in 2021 and the Hallien Johnson Memorial Award in Women and Literary Study in 2023.
As a Predoctoral Instructor, she teaches courses and maintains office hours in PDL B5-B on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:45–1:45 PM. Her academic work bridges literary analysis with contemporary social discourses, emphasizing intersections of gender, media, and historical narrative.
