Mia O'Brien

Mia O'Brien is Associate Professor of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of Southern Queensland's School of Education. Her research examines positive learning environments, teacher wellbeing, and relational approaches to education. Recent work investigates psychological capital in professional learning communities, VR applications in teacher training, and strategies for enhancing student belonging.

She contributes to educational policy discussions on professional development days and pandemic-era teaching challenges. O'Brien holds a PhD from Griffith University and BEd from Queensland, with teaching expertise spanning classroom pedagogy, curriculum design, and educational innovation. Her scholarship promotes wellbeing-centered approaches across educational contexts.
