Metin Sürme is an Associate Professor at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Tourism, Department of Tourism Management since 2023. Previously, he served as a Doctor Lecturer (2022) and Lecturer (2017-2022) at Gaziantep University's Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational School. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Gaziantep University (2016-2019), a Master's in Tourism Management from the same institution (2014-2015), and a Licence in Tourism and Hotel Management from Mersin University (2008-2013).
His research interests span across multiple dimensions of tourism studies with a particular focus on tourism management, tourism marketing, gastronomy and culinary arts. Professor Sürme has developed expertise in alternative tourism forms including faith tourism, culinary tourism, and smart tourism destinations. His work often examines consumer behavior in tourism contexts, destination management strategies, and the intersection of cultural heritage with contemporary tourism practices.
His publication record reveals a consistent thematic focus on tourism's evolving landscape, with recent articles examining Generation Y's smart destination selection processes, molecular gastronomy and fusion cuisine consumption patterns, and faith tourism route development. His research demonstrates a strong connection between theoretical frameworks and practical tourism industry applications, particularly in the Turkish context and specifically Gaziantep's unique tourism assets.

Professor Sürme has supervised four master's theses on topics ranging from regional kitchen sustainability to airline cabin crew working conditions. He has led two significant research projects, including one on determining the impact of refugees on tourism (2019-2021) and another on enhancing the quality of gastronomy tourism in Gaziantep (2019-2020). In addition to his academic work, he serves as Chairman of the Tourism and Promotion Working Group of Gaziantep City Council (2024), and as a Board Member of Matbah ı Ayıntap Sertabbah Association (2023) and Gaziantep University Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational School (2021).
