Meshack Simati is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Global Studies at California State University, San Marcos. He teaches courses on African Politics (PSCI 337), Global Studies (GBST 100), and Rebellion and Civil War (GBST/PSCI 390).
Research Interests: His work focuses on electoral rules, election violence, and judicial independence in sub-Saharan Africa. He has developed a theoretical framework linking judicial independence to the strategic use of post-election violence by non-state actors.
Publications: His 2020 book Post-Election Violence in Africa (Routledge) provides cross-national analysis and case studies on Kenya and Uganda. His 2019 article with Burchard examines Nigeria's judicial interventions in election conflicts.
