Meryl Zimmerman

Meryl Zimmerman is a Lecturer in Jazz Studies within the College of Music and Media at Loyola University New Orleans. She performs extensively in New Orleans with various jazz ensembles and is actively engaged in music education and performance.

• Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a minor in Jazz Studies from Washington University in Saint Louis
• Master of Music in Jazz Performance from Manhattan School of Music (2009)

Research and Performance Interests: Meryl specializes in jazz vocal performance, scat singing, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her work bridges musical traditions with cultural storytelling, evident in projects like Tucker Fuller’s 'Murder' song cycle.

Notable Collaborations: Featured on The Tangiers Combo’s 2019 album Tangerine, collaborated with Panorama Jazz Band on 'Ocho Kandelikas' (2017), and performed with Colin Davis and Night People. She hosts the Blues Show on WTUL New Orleans 91.5FM.
