Merrie Wright is Professor of Studio Art at University of Texas at Tyler, specializing in ceramic sculpture. Her work explores landscape as repository of memory and experience through abstracted forms. Wright has participated in international residencies including The Banff Centre, Red Lodge Clay Center, and c.r.e.t.a. Rome.
Her exhibitions include 'Brick by Brick' (c.r.e.t.a. Rome), '24th San Angelo National Ceramic Competition' (San Angelo Museum of Fine Art), and 'Tiny Mountains, Cliffs, and Switchbacks' (Tyler Museum of Art). Wright serves on the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts board.
