Dr. Merideth Krevosky is a Professor of Biological Sciences at Bridgewater State University, where she joined the faculty in Fall 2002. Her office is located in the Science and Mathematics Center, Room 316.
Her educational background includes:
- BS in Biology (Cum Laude) from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame (1990-1994)
- PhD in Cell Biology, Neurobiology & Anatomy from Loyola University (1994-1999)
- Postdoctoral work in Endocrinology & Molecular Medicine at Northwestern University (1997)
Dr. Krevosky's primary research focuses on the study of programmed cell death (apoptosis) in cancer cells. Her work investigates how cancer cells acquire genetic mutations or express proteins that prevent cell death following therapeutic interventions like chemotherapy and irradiation. She also studies programmed cell death in ocular disorders, particularly examining how small heat shock proteins may prevent retinal cell death in retinoblastoma, destructive endophthalmitis, and age-related macular degeneration.
Her teaching responsibilities include Anatomy and Physiology, Animal Physiology, and Cancer Biology courses. Dr. Krevosky enjoys mentoring students in cellular and molecular biology research, sharing with them the excitement of biological discovery and fostering their scientific development.
