Dr. Meredith Ralston is a Professor in the Department of Women’s Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU), cross-appointed with the Department of Political & Canadian Studies. She has held this position since 1993, demonstrating long-term academic commitment. Her interdisciplinary work bridges feminist theory, political activism, and documentary filmmaking. Ralston earned her BA from the University of Toronto, MA from Sussex University, and PhD from Dalhousie University.
Her research focuses on prostitution, sex tourism, and women’s political participation. Notable works include the 2021 book Slut-Shaming, Whorephobia, and the Unfinished Sexual Revolution, which critiques sexual double standards, and her documentaries Selling Sex (2015) and Hope in Heaven (2007), both challenging stigmatization of sex workers.
