About
Prof. Menno Poot holds the Rudolph Mössbauer Chair in the Department of Physics at the Technische Universität München (TUM). He leads a research group focusing on quantum technologies, with expertise in optomechanical systems, nanomechanical resonators at ultra-low temperatures, and integrated quantum optics. His work includes developing photonic chips for single-photon manipulation and superconducting detector arrays.
Education: Applied Physics degrees (BSc/MSc/PhD) from TU Delft (Kavli Institute of Nanoscience), followed by a Rubicon Fellowship at Yale University's Electrical Engineering Department.
Research interests center on quantum optomechanics, nanomechanical systems in quantum regimes, and hybrid photonic circuits. Key projects involve creating silicon nitride-based photonic components for quantum computing and space applications, as well as studying nonlinear dynamics in micromechanical resonators.
Awards include the NWO Rubicon Scholarship (2010) and multiple TU Delft academic honors. His lab focuses on advancing quantum technologies through integrated photonic platforms and optomechanical interfaces.
