About
Mengye Ren is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Data Science at New York University, affiliated with both the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and the Center for Data Science. He leads the Agentic Learning AI Lab, focusing on human-like machine intelligence through self-supervised learning, few-shot learning, and adaptive foundation models.
His research bridges machine learning and cognitive science, exploring how naturalistic egocentric videos can enhance visual representation learning. Recent work includes PooDLe (ICLR 2025), which improves small object detection in dense video scenes, and Memory Storyboard (CoLLAs 2025) for temporal segmentation in streaming video learning.
Key academic service roles include Communications Chair for NeurIPS 2025 and area chair positions at COLM and WACV conferences. His lab includes students like Jack Lu (NSERC PGS-D awardee), Alex Wang, and Christopher Hoang.
