Meng Wu is Lecturer in Strategy at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. Her research examines Chinese financial and business history, analyzing governance structures of historical banking institutions like the Shanxi piaohao. Current projects include two book manuscripts: 'The Urban Peasant' exploring Italian cultural transmission through food pedagogy, and 'Chora, Chorus, Coro' investigating spatial dynamics in women's literature.
Research reconstructs business strategies of Chinese merchant banks during economic transitions, examining how institutions adapted governance models to political changes and international trade pressures. Publications analyze monetary systems, corporate resilience, and historical entrepreneurship from Ming Dynasty to Republican China.
Teaching integrates historical case studies into strategic management courses. Wu developed modules on management studies in context, global strategy, and strategic principles. She welcomes PhD candidates in business/financial history.
