Meng C. Lin

Meng C. Lin is a Professor at the School of Optometry and Vision Science Graduate Program at the University of California, Berkeley. She serves as the Founding and Current Director of the Clinical Research Center (established in 2004) and Co-founder and Co-chief of the Dry Eye Clinic (established in 2012). Her work focuses on ethnic/racial differences in ocular surface physiology, tear film stability, contact lens discomfort, and the application of machine learning to study Meibomian glands. She has secured federal and private-sector funding for collaborative clinical trials targeting dry eye disease and contact lens-related challenges.

• Education: OD from The Ohio State University (1996), residency in Anterior-segment diseases and Specialty Contact Lenses at the University of Alabama (1997), PhD from University of California, Berkeley (2002), and post-doctoral training in Public Health and Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley (2005).

Research Interests: Dr. Lin investigates mechanisms underlying tear film stability in healthy and dry eyes, ocular surface changes due to ophthalmic interventions, and the interplay between Meibomian gland morphology and function using machine learning. Her work bridges optometry, public health, and engineering.
