Melodie Fox

Melodie Fox is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's School of Information Studies, specializing in information organization and gender studies. She holds a PhD and MLIS from UWM, an MA in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a BA in English from the University of St. Thomas.

Her research focuses on gender classification, epistemology, and ethics in subject access systems, particularly exploring intersections of gender, law, and classification frameworks like the Dewey Decimal System. She teaches foundational courses on information organization and has contributed to academic discussions on feminist epistemologies and ethical standards in knowledge organization.

Dr. Fox’s publications appear in journals such as Knowledge Organization, Journal of Documentation, and Library Trends, addressing topics ranging from legal discourse in classification systems to prototype theory applications in gender categorization.
