Melissa Florell is the Interim Assistant Dean of the Lincoln Division and Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Nursing. She holds a BSN from UNMC (2003), MSN from Yale University (2010), and completed her PhD at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in 2023. Her research focuses on rural health stakeholder perceptions, health policy development, and nurse advocacy. She has been recognized with the 2019 Dean’s Early Scholar Award. Florell is actively involved in professional organizations like the Nebraska Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International, and serves on the Center for Rural Affairs Board of Directors.
