Dr. Melanie Schmidt serves as a Scientific Associate at the Institute for Pedagogy within the Faculty of Philosophy III at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since October 2018. Her work focuses on systematic educational science with particular emphasis on discourse analysis and school development.
Her research interests center on praxeological discourse and subjectivation research, pedagogical addresses and authorizations, and poststructuralist educational research. She specializes in school reform, school development theory, and empirical school regulations using qualitative research methodologies. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical school inspection applications.
Dr. Schmidt earned her doctorate summa cum laude from Goethe University Frankfurt with a dissertation titled "Effective Indeterminacy, Indeterminate Effectiveness. A Discourse-Analytical Study of School Inspection." Prior to her current position, she served as research assistant and study coordinator at the University of Leipzig across multiple educational science departments from 2009-2018.
