Melanie R. Weltman is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She is also core faculty in the Center for Population Health Management within the Renal-Electrolyte Division of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Weltman earned her PharmD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and completed postdoctoral work as a clinical research fellow there. Her research focuses on optimizing medication therapy for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), particularly through population health management strategies. She played a key role in the Kidney Coordinated HeAlth Management Partnership (Kidney CHAMP) study, evaluating electronic health record-based interventions to improve CKD care.
Her scientific awards include the 2023 Outstanding Plenary Presentation at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine Annual Research Day and the 2020 Top Poster Award at the National Kidney Foundation Spring Clinical Meetings.
