Dr. Melanie Leßmann serves as Academic Advisor to the President and Lecturer in Art Analysis at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts Kiel. She has held her current position since 2020, following her role as Academic Assistant to the President and Administrative Employee in Department IV Human Resources from 2013 to 2020.
Dr. Leßmann has taught art analysis and work analysis at the Muthesius Academy since 2010. Her academic expertise spans art history, fashion theory, sociology, and design theory. She previously served as Chair of the Examination Board, Member of the Executive Board, and Head of the Library at the JAK Academy in Hamburg from 2012-2015, and taught fashion theory, sociology, fashion history, and design theory at the same institution from 2010-2015.
Her research interests focus on art historical analysis, work analysis methodology, and the intersection of fashion theory with cultural sociology. She approaches art education through both theoretical frameworks and practical application, drawing on her extensive experience in museum settings and academic institutions.
Dr. Leßmann completed her doctorate in Art History in 2006 after studying art history, European ethnology, and education at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel from 1994 to 2003. She has been conducting guided tours through exhibitions at the Kiel City Gallery since 1996 and worked as a student and research assistant at the Kunsthalle zu Kiel and Muthesius University from 1995-2006.
