Mehmet Ulubasoglu is Professor of Economics and Associate Dean (Research) at Deakin University's Faculty of Business and Law. He previously served as Head of the Department of Economics and holds PhD and MA degrees in Economics from Florida International University.
His research focuses on economic impacts of natural disasters in Australia and Asia, development economics, and political economy. Current projects examine disaster resilience, post-disaster recovery interventions, and social capital's role in disaster resilience.
Ulubasoglu's publications address disaster economics, agricultural policy, poverty dynamics, and development institutions. His recent work focuses on economic resilience after bushfires and floods, with methodological approaches combining econometric analysis with field research.
