Mehmet Arık

Mehmet Arık is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Özyeğin University's Faculty of Engineering. He joined the university in 2011 as a full-time faculty member after working as a senior research scientist and project leader at General Electric Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY.

His educational background includes a Doctorate in High Flux Heat Transfer and MEMS from the University of Minnesota (2001), a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Miami (1996), and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (1991).

Dr. Arık's research focuses on thermal management systems with expertise in air- and liquid-cooled power electronics, microfluidic devices, and energy-efficient technologies. His work spans interdisciplinary applications in defense, medical systems, solid-state lighting (LED/OLED), and photonics packages. He emphasizes practical engineering solutions through Six Sigma methodologies.

As an active researcher, he has established the ARTgroup (16+ members) and co-founded EVATEG Center for Energy Efficient Lighting Technologies in collaboration with 10+ global universities and 15+ companies. His publications and patents demonstrate significant industry impact.

Dr. Arık serves as associate editor for IEEE Components and Packaging Technologies, ASME Journal of Electronics Packaging, and ASME Thermal Sciences and Engineering Applications. He has supervised research teams developing innovations in electronics cooling and energy systems, with strong industry partnerships facilitating technology transfer.

He leads multiple research initiatives including microfluidic systems for medical applications and advanced thermal solutions for defense technologies, maintaining active collaborations with global institutions through the EVATEG Center.
