Meghann Peace, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Languages at St. Mary’s University. She specializes in heritage language acquisition, Spanish dialects, and Spanglish.
Research examines identity negotiation among Mexican-American students, dialect contact in study abroad, and critical pedagogy. Articles focus on sociolinguistic justice and community-based language reclamation.
She developed the innovative course 'Spanish for Immigration, Human Rights and Community Engagement' and is a frequent media commentator on Spanglish.
