Meghan Sullivan is the Wilsey Family College Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, serving as Director of the University-wide Ethics Initiative and founding director of the Institute for Ethics and the Common Good. She holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia, a B.Phil. from Oxford (as a Rhodes Scholar), and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Her research focuses on Value Theory (Ethics and Rationality), Metaphysics, and Philosophy of Religion.
She teaches the popular course 'God and the Good Life,' which has influenced over 5,500 students, and has authored/co-authored books like *The Good Life Method* (Penguin Press, 2022) and *Time Biases* (Oxford UP, 2018). Sullivan has been honored with the Joyce Teaching Award, Provost’s All-Faculty Team Award, and South Bend’s 40 Under 40 recognition. She co-edits the journal *Nous* and leads interdisciplinary initiatives like the Notre Dame–IBM Technology Ethics Lab.
Her recent work explores rational planning across time, virtue ethics, and the intersection of philosophy with contemporary issues. Sullivan’s scholarship bridges metaphysical theory with practical ethics, emphasizing philosophy’s role in fostering a meaningful life.
