Meghan Backofen

Meghan Backofen is an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Social Work, University of Denver, specializing in trauma-informed mental health treatment for youth and families. She has over 20 years of experience working with child trauma survivors, particularly in Child Welfare settings, focusing on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Her expertise includes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR therapy, and sexual abuse prevention, which she teaches through courses like Trauma Informed Assessment and Intervention.

Education: MSW from the University of Chicago (2002) and BA in International Affairs from the University of Colorado (1996).

Key roles include Core Sexual Abuse Treatment Provider at Garfield County Department of Human Services (since 2004), TF-CBT Consultant/Supervisor, and trainer with the Office for Victims of Crime Technical Training Center (OVCTTC).
