Megan Bucks

Megan Bucks is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Purdue University (2010) and a B.S. in Chemistry from Grove City College (2004). Her academic roles include teaching General Chemistry courses for science majors and engineers. Previously, she served as Associate Director of Academic Support in the Learning Commons (2018–2023), overseeing STEM support programs. Her research focuses on active learning strategies, equitable pedagogy in STEM, and interventions to support first-generation students. She collaborates on grants like the Ohio Strong Start in Science initiative.

Grants & Awards: Collaborator on the OhioSSS grant (2024–2028) and recipient of the 2023 Darwin T. Turner Breakfast of Champions Award. Her earlier recognitions include the 2010 Leadership Award (Phi Lambda Upsilon) and multiple staff excellence nominations.

Teaching & Service: Coordinates the General Chemistry Teaching Team and serves on departmental committees. Engages in service activities like faculty mentoring and high school outreach. Active in professional development workshops on teaching excellence and student mental health.
