Megan Bowman

Megan Bowman serves as an Assistant Professor in the Biology department at High Point University, actively participating in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program.

Her research centers on Microbiology and Phage Biology, utilizing Arthrobacter globiformis as a bacterial host for phage discovery. She integrates Genomics and Evolutionary Science into undergraduate education through hands-on laboratory experiences, emphasizing authentic scientific research in science education.

During Fall Semester 2025, Dr. Bowman instructs 23 freshmen in BIO 1501-01 (Phage Discovery), a 4-hour weekly laboratory course meeting twice weekly. She collaborates with faculty like Dinene Crater and actively participates in SEA-PHAGES community events including the 2025 Phage Genomics Workshop and 2026 SEA Symposium.
