Megan Blakely

Dr. Megan Blakely is a Lecturer in Law at Lancaster University's Law School and Director of the Centre for Law and Society. Her research focuses on intellectual property law, intangible cultural heritage, digitisation, and virtual world copyright issues. She holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow (2018), JD from UC Hastings (201?), LLM from SOAS (201?), and ALB from Harvard University. Professional experience includes roles at NBC-Universal and USC's Institute for Innovation in Research & Technology Transfer.

Key research areas include the intersection of technology and cultural heritage law, with a forthcoming 2024 book on 'The Tangification of Intangible Cultural Heritage.' She has held the Institute for Social Futures Fellowship (2018-19) and currently leads research projects on digital goods ownership in virtual worlds (2018-2020).
