Meagen Pollock

Dr. Meagen Pollock is the Lewis M. and Marian Senter Nixon Professor of Natural Sciences at The College of Wooster, where she has been on the Geology faculty since 2008. She holds a B.S. from Marshall University (2001) and a Ph.D. from Duke University (2007). Her research focuses on mid-ocean ridges, igneous geochemistry/petrology/mineralogy, solid Earth processes, and geoscience education. She leads interdisciplinary projects on magmatic systems, glaciovolcanic ridge formation, and soil chemistry, utilizing the College’s X-ray and geochemistry labs. Dr. Pollock’s work includes studying the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP) and collaborations on community-based environmental projects. She teaches courses such as Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Geochemistry, and Geology of Natural Hazards. Her mentoring includes undergraduate research projects like Hannah Grachen’s 2020 study on Icelandic volcanic ridges. Dr. Pollock is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM education and has developed experiential learning programs to support marginalized students.
