Dr. Md Lutfur Rahman is an Associate Professor of Finance and Deputy Head of School (Teaching & Learning) at the Newcastle Business School, University of Newcastle. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Newcastle, an MBA, and a BBA Honors in Finance and Banking from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His research focuses on fintech, sustainable finance, climate change, energy finance, corporate governance, and financial contagion.
He has published extensively in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Energy Economics, and International Review of Financial Analysis. His recent work explores corporate resilience during crises, systemic risk, and the impact of sustainability practices. He has also coordinated the Finance Lab and led programs like the Master of Applied Finance.
Teaching expertise includes corporate finance, portfolio management, and financial risk analysis. He has secured over $81,150 in research grants and currently supervises seven PhD students. His research bridges theory and practice, addressing topics like ESG integration, climate vulnerability, and crisis management.
