Maysa Ito is a postdoctoral researcher at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel (Germany) since 2022, affiliated with the Marine Evolutionary Ecology - Ecosystem Modelling Working Group. She previously worked at Ifremer Channel and North Sea (France, 2020-2021).
- Education: Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography (GEOMAR, 2020), M.Sc. in Ecohydrology (Erasmus Mundus, 2014), B.Sc. in Marine Biology (Brazil, 2008).
Her research integrates experimental and computational approaches to study global change impacts on marine biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. Key areas include climate change effects on ecological interactions and human activity impacts on marine food webs.
Current projects include BMBF DAM sustainMare iSeal (2022–present) and the MARCO project (2020–2021). Recent publications focus on marine heatwaves, temperature variability effects, and ecosystem modeling, spanning journals like Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B and Global Change Biology.
