Dr. Maya Schroevers is an Associate Professor at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Health Psychology Research (HPR) department. Her work focuses on psychological adaptation to chronic illnesses like cancer, diabetes, and renal failure, emphasizing depression subtypes, mindfulness-based interventions, and compassionate care. She leads the ATTENT expertise centre, promoting mindfulness in healthcare.
Her research spans over 147 publications, with recent studies addressing barriers to psychological care in dialysis patients, compassionate care enablers for nurses, and the cost-effectiveness of yoga for depression. She has been awarded grants including the ELSA Lab funding and Dutch Cancer Society fellowship.
