Maximilian Viatori is a Professor and Department Head of Anthropology at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His research focuses on inequality, racism, environmental governance, and political ecology in Latin America, particularly Peru and Ecuador. He holds a BA from the University of Missouri and a PhD from UC Davis. Current projects include studies on the 'blue economy' in the eastern Pacific and coastal environmental justice in Peru.
