Maximilian Rech

Maximilian Rech is an Assistant Professor and Scientific Director of the Mastère Spécialisé® in Supply Chain & Purchasing Management at SKEMA Business School in Paris and Lille. He is affiliated with the Digitalisation Academy and the SKEMA Research Centre for Analytics & Management Science. Previously, he served as Academic Director for multiple programs at ESSCA School of Management in Shanghai, including the MSc in Global Management (China-Europe Business) and the MSc in Digital Marketing & Business. Prior academic roles included positions at the Brussels-based think tank Friends of Europe and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Education: Holds an M.A. and B.A. in European Studies from Maastricht University, with additional training at Sciences Po Grenoble, France.

Research focuses on geopolitics, EU-Asia macroeconomic cooperation, digital transformation, and sustainable supply chain management. Key areas include China’s state capitalism, infrastructure investment strategies, rare earth elements policy, and climate-energy governance between the EU and China. His work bridges geopolitical analysis with practical business applications, emphasizing responsible AI adoption and global risk mitigation.

Publications include peer-reviewed analyses of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, edited volumes on EU-China climate collaboration, and chapters on waste management best practices. He actively contributes to policy dialogues through think tanks and international forums.

Leadership roles span academic program direction (e.g., Alliance of Belt & Road Business Schools Doctorate) and research center memberships in global risks and analytics. His work integrates theoretical insights with industry relevance, addressing 21st-century challenges in globalized markets.
