Maximilian Krause

Dr. Maximilian Krause is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Engineering Mathematics within the Department of Civil Sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, joining in January 2025 after completing his doctorate at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

His academic foundation from KIT includes:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2013-2017) specializing in continuum mechanics
• Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2017-2019) focusing on Applied Mechanics and Mechatronics

His research centers on Numerical Micromechanics and Microstructure modeling, currently leading the ERC-funded project Beyond Representative Volume Elements for Random Heterogeneous Materials. His doctoral work at KIT investigated local stress-strain distributions in polycrystals, advancing computational frameworks for material behavior prediction.

Supported by European Research Council funding, his work bridges theoretical mechanics with practical engineering applications, building on prior industry experience at Schaeffler Technologies through internships and working student roles.
