Max Söding

Max Söding is a researcher at the Department of Environmental Politics, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, Leipzig, Germany, since 2021. His work focuses on environmental governance, collective action for socio-ecological transformations, and science-policy-society interfaces. Affiliated with the Research Unit Environment and Society, he contributes to projects on digital cities, public participation, and sustainability narratives.

• Education: M.A. in Sociology and Technology Studies (2018–2021) and B.A. in Sociology (2012–2015) from TU Berlin and Leipzig University
• Research Themes: Analyzes how narratives, governance structures, and policy instruments shape sustainability transformations, with special focus on urban resilience, rewilding, and smart city initiatives
