Max Naderer

Max Naderer is a Research Fellow at the University of Oslo, specializing in medieval Scandinavian history with a focus on religious practices, warfare, and state formation. His work examines the intersection of religion and conflict, particularly in Norway during the civil war era (1130–1240) and the role of the Folkunger dynasty in shaping Sweden's early statehood.

He holds a postdoctoral position affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (Iakh) at the University of Oslo, located at Niels Henrik Abels vei 36. His research contributes to broader discussions on medieval political dynamics and cultural identity in Northern Europe.

Naderer's publications include chapters in peer-reviewed volumes such as Religious Rites of War beyond the Medieval West (Brill, 2023) and Deutschland - Schweden - Finnland (2019). His current research group affiliation is with the 'Medieval Histories Violence' team.
