Max Laun is an Adjunct Professor of Law and Director of the Corporate Compliance Online Certificate Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He previously served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for Arconic Inc., retiring from that corporate role in 2020. Prior to Arconic, he held senior legal roles at Alcoa Inc. for 25 years, leading global transactions across 6 continents.
Education: BA in History and Russian (cum laude) from Rice University, followed by a Fulbright Scholarship in Romania (1983-1985). JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (magna cum laude), where he served as Law Review editor.
His expertise focuses on international mergers, acquisitions, and compliance frameworks. Current roles include board memberships with the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network (PLAN), National Legal Aid and Defenders Association (NLADA), Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board, and Pitt Law’s Center for International Legal Education (CILE) Advisory Council.
