Maurizio Catulli is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Hertfordshire Business School, University of Hertfordshire, and holds the position of Director and Chair at the Centre of Research In Just Transitions (CRIJT). His research focuses on Sustainable Production and Consumption, particularly exploring sustainable business models such as Mobility as a Service (MaaS), Product Service Systems (PSS), and Access-Based Consumption (ABC), underpinned by Practice Theory and Consumer Culture Theory.
Education: He earned a PhD in Sustainable Innovation from The Open University (2019), investigating the social and cultural dynamics of Product Service Systems consumption. He is also a Visiting Research Fellow at The Open University since 2019.
Research Interests: His work examines sustainable transport systems, gender inclusivity in mobility, circular economy practices, and the diffusion of innovative business models. Notable projects include investigations into MaaS adoption barriers for women, low-carbon mobility transitions, and Scope 3 emissions monitoring.
Collaborations: He has partnered with DEFRA (UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and commercial sectors in automotive, pharmaceuticals, and infant care products. His qualitative research methods include case studies and socio-technical experiments, often conducted in both English and Italian.
Grants & Projects: Key projects include the Low Carbon Mobility: Just Transition to MaaS (2025–2028), MaaSafe (2022–2023), and Women and MaaS (2024). These address inclusivity, safety, and sustainability in shared mobility systems.
