Mauricio Rodriguez

Mauricio Rodriguez is a composer and educator affiliated with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), where he teaches AP Music Theory, Musicianship, and Composition at the Pre-College Academy. He also leads the piano lab at San Jose City College.

• Education: DMA in Composition (Stanford University), MA in Sonology (Royal Conservatory The Hague), BFA in Composition, Piano, and Ethnomusicology (University of Mexico)

His research and artistic practice focus on contemporary composition, experimental acoustic art, sonology, and music technology. Rodriguez blends archetypal sonorities with avant-garde techniques, creating intricate, multi-modal sonic experiences.

Rodriguez's work has been performed by renowned ensembles like the JACK String Quartet, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), and Talea Ensemble. He has held residencies at institutions such as Arteles Creative Center (Finland), Xenakis Centre (Paris), and Royaumont Foundation (France).

Scientific Awards include a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts of Mexico, distinctions from the Telmex Foundation, Medal University of Mexico, and recognition from the British Council, among others.
