Mauricio Castro is the Marlene & David Grissom Associate Professor of History at Centre College, where he also chairs the Latin American Studies Program. His research focuses on Latino studies, political history, and urban history, particularly examining the interplay between Cuban diaspora, immigration policy, and Cold War dynamics in cities like Miami.

Castro's scholarly work explores themes of racial binaries, cultural memory, and urban transformation, with a forthcoming book Only A Few Blocks to Cuba under contract with the University of Pennsylvania Press.
