About
Maurice Joseph Dupré is an Associate Professor at Tulane University's Department of Mathematics within the School of Science & Engineering. He has been at Tulane since 1979, previously serving as an Assistant Professor there from 1973–1979 and at the University of Hawaii from 1972–1973. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania (1972), an M.A. (1969), and a B.S. from the University of Florida (1965).
His research focuses on applying topological and differential geometric methods to problems in operator algebras and topological algebra, as well as foundational issues in general relativity and Bayesian probability theory. Recent interests include energy in spacetime and rigorous probability axioms.
Dupré teaches a variety of mathematics courses, including Probability and Statistics (MATH-1110), Calculus (MATH-1140, MATH-1150), and Statistics for Science/Engineering (MATH-1230). His publications explore advanced topics like principal bundles, covariant energy-momentum tensors, and axiomatic Bayesian frameworks.
