Maurice Beghetti is a Full Professor ad personam at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), Faculty of Biology and Medicine, and also a Full Professor at the University of Geneva (UNIGE), Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. He is a leading specialist in pediatric cardiology and holds key leadership roles at the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), serving as Head of the Pediatric Cardiology Unit and Head of the Pediatric Specialties Department. He is Co-Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Director of the Romand University Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (CURCCCP), a joint academic and clinical initiative between Vaud and Geneva.
His research is centered on pediatric pulmonary hypertension and congenital heart disease in children and adults. He has made significant contributions to the field through the creation and leadership of the TOPP registry (Tracking Outcome and Practice in Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension), the largest international registry in this domain. His work bridges clinical practice, academic research, and international guideline development.
Maurice Beghetti is actively engaged in the global cardiology community. He serves as the pediatric member of the European Society of Cardiology's Pulmonary Circulation Working Group and the Reflection Committee on Guidelines for Pulmonary Hypertension. He has co-directed international symposia and contributes as a reviewer and editorial board member for major cardiovascular journals, including Cardiology in the Young.
