About
Dr. Maureen Taylor is a Fellow and Tutor in Biochemistry at Exeter College, University of Oxford, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Glycobiology Institute within the Department of Biochemistry. She teaches most areas of the biochemistry course and conducts research on protein structure-function relationships in the context of innate immunity.
- Education: B.Sc. in Biochemistry from King’s College London; Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of London (Royal Free Hospital Medical School).
Research Interests:
Her work focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of the innate immune system, particularly how mammalian proteins recognize microbial sugar structures. This spans glycobiology, immunology, and structural biology, with implications for understanding pathogen defense mechanisms.
Positions:
• Biochemistry Tutor at Exeter College since 1995
• Senior Research Fellow at the Glycobiology Institute, Oxford University
Collaborative Work:
She bridges teaching and research, operating at the intersection of the Glycobiology Institute and Exeter College’s academic programs.
