Maud Save

Maud Save is a CNRS Senior Researcher and Research Director in Polymer Chemistry at the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (UPPA), affiliated with the Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physico-Chemistry for Environment and Materials (IPREM). She leads the Southwest Regional division of the French Polymer Group and holds administrative roles in UPPA’s governance and IPREM’s scientific committees.

Research Focus: Her work centers on advanced polymer synthesis techniques, including controlled radical polymerization and polymerization in aqueous dispersed media. Key areas include stimuli-responsive polymers (e.g., microgels, latex), photosensitizer-functionalized polymers, and polymers derived from renewable resources (e.g., polysaccharides, terpenes). Her research also explores self-assembly of block copolymers and their applications in materials science.

Projects & Leadership: She coordinates or participates in 21 collaborative projects over the past decade, including ANR-funded initiatives like FUNPOLYSURF (designing functional polymer surfaces) and PICPOSS (sustainable chemical production). Recent projects address biodegradable materials for biomedical devices (AcroBioPlast) and molecular imprinting for environmental monitoring.

Administration: Member of IPREM’s Scientific Committee, Elected Member of UPPA’s Governing Board, and Co-Leader of the cluster ‘Physico-chemistry of Surfaces and Polymer Materials.’

Teaching & Mentorship: Supervised 11 postdocs, 13 PhD students, and 25 master’s students. Active in reviewing national/international projects and academic manuscripts.
