Matthjas Bieri

Matthjas Bieri is the Head of the Institute of Music Pedagogy at the Lucerne School of Music, part of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. His career spans roles as a vocal pedagogue, choral conductor, and ensemble coach, alongside leadership in music education institutions.

• Studied singing at Conservatoire de musique neuchâtelois and Hochschule Luzern – Musik
• Master in Arts (Vocal Pedagogy) and further voice studies with Prof. Scot Weir and René Perler
• Active as a soloist and ensemble performer across genres

His research focuses on music pedagogy, vocal training, and inclusive music education. Projects include Kunstkompetenzen P-11 MER (arts competencies) and Musik für Alle (inclusive music programs). He also contributes to leadership and management education in music institutions.

Matthjas Bieri has held significant administrative roles, including serving on the administration council of the Pensionskasse Stadt Biel/Bienne and managing youth promotion for the Swiss Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows. His work bridges academic music pedagogy with practical ensemble coaching and community outreach.
