About
Matthieu Riva is a permanent Research Fellow at CNRS, IRCELYON since 2018. His work bridges atmospheric chemistry, analytical chemistry, and environmental science through advanced mass spectrometric techniques.
- Ph.D. in analytical chemistry and environmental sciences (2010–2013), University of Bordeaux 1, France
- Postdoctoral researcher at University of Helsinki (2016–2017) and UNC Chapel Hill (2014–2016)
Research focuses on secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation, new particle formation mechanisms, and gas-phase reactivity of highly oxygenated organic molecules (HOMs). Key methods include CI-Orbitrap mass spectrometry and in situ chemical characterization.
Recent publications (2021–2025) analyze humidity effects on SOA composition, nitrate radical impacts on NPF, and oxidative processes in biomass burning and biogenic emissions. Collaborations span institutions in Finland, USA, China, and France, with technical support from staff like Sebastien Perrier and Christian George.
