Matthias Weidlich is a full Professor and Chair of Databases and Information Systems in the Department of Computer Science at Humboldt University of Berlin since 2018, previously serving as a junior professor from 2015 supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) Emmy-Noether Programme. He held research positions at Imperial College London and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology prior to his Berlin appointment.

Weidlich's work centers on three interconnected pillars: (1) data-driven process mining techniques for optimizing operations in healthcare and logistics; (2) efficient algorithms for streaming data analysis, particularly pattern detection in IoT infrastructures; and (3) exploratory data analysis frameworks enabling reproducible scientific workflows in astrophysics and bioinformatics collaborations.
