Prof. Matthias Tschöp is a Professor of Metabolic Diseases at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) since 2011 and Scientific Director/Spokesperson of the Management Board at Helmholtz Zentrum München since 2018. He holds the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship (2012) and is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina since 2013. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying diabetes and obesity, particularly gut-brain communication and its role in glucose and energy metabolism regulation. He leads interdisciplinary efforts at the Institute of Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) to develop personalized therapies for metabolic diseases.
