Matthias Henker

Professor Matthias Henker serves at HTW Dresden as Professor for Measurement Technology / Optical Signal Transmission within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He holds significant administrative responsibilities as Dean of Studies and Program Coordinator for Bachelor's and Diploma degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

His research expertise spans Electronic Measurement Technology, Measurement Automation, Communication Technology, Optical Communications Engineering, and Signal Processing. Professor Henker has led notable research projects including the SIPS (Secure Indoor Positioning System) project from 2018-2020, which developed secure location tracking systems for industrial environments with strong data protection mechanisms.

He teaches multiple core courses including Measurement Technology (E033), Optical Communications Technology (E383), and Optical Transmission Systems (E769), serving as course responsible for lectures, exercises, and laboratory sessions. His teaching spans both on-campus and distance learning programs.

Professor Henker oversees two key laboratory facilities:

• Fundamentals of Measurement Technology Laboratory
• Optical Communications Engineering Laboratory

As Dean of Studies, he plays a crucial role in academic program management, student advising, and curriculum development for Electrical Engineering programs at HTW Dresden.
