Matthew Sutherland is a distinguished Professor at Northumbria University, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Law. He specializes in Knowledge Exchange (KE), business education, and SME collaboration. He holds a PhD in Marketing (2008) and a BA in Business Studies (2006), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA since 2014).
His research focuses on KE infrastructure, SME growth strategies, and international student employability. Notable achievements include securing £5.8M in research funding, leading projects such as the ‘Making Accountants Digital Enablers’ (MADE) initiative, and co-developing the Greggs Marketing Challenge.
